About

Singer/Songwriter Trisha R Jenkins, native of Kansas City MO started singing at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastoral leadership of E A Johnson. Trisha realized her love for singing as a youth in the church choir. Her  musical talents and gifts were initially fostered and encouraged by her mother, the late Brenda Jenkins, her #1 fan and supporter. Her father Dwight Jenkins, an avid drummer, played in the Greater Kansas City area with the Sonny Kenner Band for many years. Through a process that can only be attributed to genetics, the gift of playing the drums was passed on to Trisha.

Over the years she gained an appreciation and zest for all genres of music but gospel music and the talents of greats such as Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, India Arie, Lalah Hathaway is where she drew her singing inspirations. Her textured vocals reveal a history and character that can be felt in soulful renditions that often highlight her lower register. She developed an ear for harmonies and musical movements. Studying the intricacies and intentions of specific melodic and instrumental progressions is a passion for her. Over the years, she’s continued to use her gifts for the Lord singing in multiple gospel groups, directing various individuals and singing units as well as ministering for various functions in the greater Kansas City and surrounding areas.

Currently, she proudly serves as the Minister of Music and Praise and Worship Leader at New Generation Christian Center in LSMO, under the leadership of Pastor Ron and Sis Kelsey Kelly. Furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ while bringing joy to the souls of men through music is an ongoing pursuit for Trisha as she strives to serve the Lord with the spirit of excellence. Some call it crazy...
I call it covered.
